Women's Tennis Match at Juniata Suspended by Rain at 4-4

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team had its Landmark Conference match at Juniata College Monday suspended due to rain with the contest tied at 4-4.

When the rain began, both squads had won for matches with the sixth singles match between Juniata's Hilary Walsh and Moravian sophomore Olivia Sonnabend tied and one set apiece with Walsh leading 30-15 in the third set.  Walsh had won the first set 7-6 (8-6) while Sonnabend captured the second set 6-4.  The schools will determine a time and site to complete the match.

The Greyhounds had a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition with junior Chelsea Ott and sophomore Katie Zien earning an 8-0 win at first doubles and sophomore Erica Venuti and freshman Carly Agrifolio posting an 8-6 win at second doubles.  Sonnabend and senior Brianna Kavanagh fell at third doubles by an 8-6 score.

Ott picked up Moravian's only win in singles action, capturing a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles.  Zien fell in two sets at third singles with the first set going to a 13-11 tiebreaker while Venuti also forced a first set tiebreaker in her loss at fifth singles.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 10 in another Landmark Conference contest at The University of Scranton beginning at 3:30 p.m.
