Women's Tennis Falls to Susquehanna, 5-4, in Landmark Semifinals

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The top seeded Susquehanna University women's tennis team posted a 5-4 victory over fourth seed Moravian College in the 2012 Landmark Conference Semifinals Tuesday in a match played at the West Branch Tennis Club.

The Crusaders had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action with the Greyhounds squad of sophomore Erica Venuti and freshman Carly Agrifolio posting an 8-2 win at second doubles.  The other two doubles contests were extremely close with junior Chelsea Ott and sophomore Katie Zien falling 9-7 at first doubles while senior Brianna Kavanagh and sophomore Olivia Sonnabend fell 8-6 at third doubles.

The squad would split the singles action to clinch the victory for the Crusaders.  Ott had a straight sets win at first singles to earn her 50th career win.  Ott now has a career mark of 50-6, and her 17 wins in 2011-12 are tied for the ninth most in a single season at Moravian.  Agrifolio posted a three-set victory for the Greyhounds at second singles while Zien won in straight sets at third singles.

Moravian was making its 18th straight postseason appearance, and for the first time in those 18 seasons, the Greyhounds failed to reach the conference championship match.
