Women's Tennis Edges Catholic, 5-4

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team earned its first Landmark Conference win of the 2012 season, defeating host The Catholic University of America, 5-4, Saturday.

The Greyhounds, now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action, led 2-1 after the doubles action with an 8-0 win at first doubles from junior Chelsea Ott and sophomore Katie Zien and a 9-8 (7-5) victory at second doubles from the duo of sophomore Erica Venuti and freshman Carly Agrifolio.

Moravian won the top three singles matches to earn the five points for the victory.  Ott posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles while Agrifolio had a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win at second singles.  Zien won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles for the Greyhounds while Venuti gave a battle at fifth singles before falling 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 5 in a Landmark Conference match versus Susquehanna University.  Moravian will be hosting the match over at DeSales University in Center Valley beginning at 2:30 p.m.
