TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University junior sprinter Crystal Robinson has honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
Robinson was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash final at the Greyhound Invitational in an All-Atlantic Track & Field Region qualifying, PR and school record time of 12.15 seconds, and the meet was the first time that Robinson had run the 100-meter dash in her career. Her time is also tied for 16th in the nation on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list. Robinson also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in an AARTF qualifying time of 25.09 seconds, which is 29th on the TFRRS list, and she ran a leg of Moravian's winning 4x100 meter relay that had an AARTF qualifying time of 47.74 seconds, which is ninth on the TFRRS list
"We decided to take last week off for our top sprinters to let them recover a bit and it paid off in a big way for all of them, especially Crystal," stated Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "She ran a phenomenal second leg in the 4x100 that helped us to a current number six ranking in Division III right now. She then put aside an unexpected surprise that happened moments before the 100m finals to run the fastest 100m in school history. She capped off her epic day with the 3rd fastest 200m she had ever run and by far the fastest she has run this early in the season. She's obviously at her best fitness level of all time, so we're ecstatic about what the rest of the season is going to hold for her, and our women's sprint core."
The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 23 when the squad hosts the Coach P Invitational with action beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.
