Hounds Fall to Ursinus to Finish Trip to Neumann Knights Invitational

ASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team fell to undefeated Ursinus College, 3-0 by set scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-20, in the Greyhounds' final match at the Neumann University Knights Invitational Saturday morning.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds scored the opening point of the match, and the set was tied at 3-3 before the Bears began to pull away. The Blue & Grey pulled back within a point at 14-13 but Ursinus would move back ahead and led 23-15. The Greyhounds scored four straight points to make it 23-19 before the Bears won the set 25-19
  • The second set was close early with Moravian eventually moving out to a 14-9 advantage. Ursinus responded and used a 6-0 run to take a 15-14 edge. The Hounds reclaimed the lead at 23-20 before the Bears scored six of the final seven points to take the set 26-24
  • The Greyhounds opened an early 3-1 advantage in the third set, and Moravian was ahead 8-5 before Ursinus move in front for good on the way to a 25-20 set victory

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Deegan led Moravian with ten kills and seven digs while sophomore right side hitter Makenzie Krasley had eight kills and two digs. Freshman outside hitter Caroline Melillo and junior right side hitter Sophie Bauer each added six kills with Bauer contributing four digs
  • Senior setter Natalia Matos recorded 31 assists and nine digs while junior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso led the Greyhounds with 20 digs and senior libero Gabby Mancini added 15 digs and a pair of assists. Mancini was also selected to the All-Tournament Team
  • Junior middle blocker Grace Silfani had four kills while freshman defensive specialist Tamara Vasquez contributed 12 digs and two service aces junior defensive specialist Emily Szy had six digs
