Mancini Reaches 1,000 Career Digs in Match at Drew

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad fell to host Drew University, 3-0, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening as the Greyhounds played their final road contest of the 2022 season.

How It Happened

  • The Rangers scored the opening two points of the first set while the Hounds countered and took a 6-4 lead. Drew then registered eight of nine points to take a 14-7 advantage on the way to a 25-11 set victory
  • Moravian posted the first two points in the second set before the Rangers scored eight straight points for an 8-2 edge. The Blue and Grey slowly fought back and eventually took a 22-21 lead. Drew went on to take the set 26-24 to move ahead 2-0
  • The Hounds had an early 5-2 advantage in the third set while the Rangers came back to lead 7-6. Moravian pulled ahead 15-10, and the Greyhounds had an 18-15 edge before Drew scored six points to take the advantage back. The Blue and Grey tied the set at 23-23, but the Rangers recorded the last two points to earn a 25-23 set victory to clinch the match

Inside the Numbers

  • Senior libero Gabby Mancini had a team-high 24 digs to give her an even 1,000 digs in her career as she became the 15th player in school history to reach the milestone
  • Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Deegan led Moravian with 12 kills to go with four digs and a block while junior right side hitter Sophie Bauer had five kills
  • Junior middle blockers Autumn Marrero and Grace Silfani each registered four kills with Marrero adding three service aces and two digs
  • Senior setter Natalia Matos led the Greyhounds with 25 assists to go along with 18 digs and a pair of kills 
  • Junior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow posted 14 digs while junior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso had five digs and a pair of service aces and junior defensive specialist Emily Szy contributed four digs
