Greyhounds Top Elizabethtown in Key Landmark Conference Match-Up

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad topped host Elizabethtown College, 2-1, in Landmark Conference action Tuesday evening as the Greyhounds won a key conference match-up in the race for a berth in the Landmark postseason tournament.

How It Happened

  • The squads played a scoreless first quarter
  • The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute as senior midfielder Sydney Anderson scored on a tip-in on a pass from junior midfielder Megan Felmly on a penalty corner
  • The Hounds extended the advantage to 2-0 just over three minutes into the second half as junior forward Gia Ambrosino tallied an unassisted goal as she came on the left side and put the ball into the cage
  • The Blue Jays got onto the scoreboard with just under 11 minutes remaining in the contest to cut the Blue & Grey advantage to 2-1

Inside the Numbers

  • Anderson scored her fourth goal of the season and the 36th of her career as she moved into a tie for third in program history with 83 career points
  • Ambrosino netted her team-leading 12th goal of 2024 and the 20th marker of her career
  • Felmly earned her fourth assist of the year
  • Sophomore goalie Maia Machado registered three saves as she earned her 15th career victory in the cage
