Greyhounds Dominate Misericordia in Women's Tennis

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College women's tennis team continued its hot start to the season with an 8-1 win over Misericordia on Saturday afternoon in the Moravian Team Tournament on the Hoffman Courts.

The Greyhounds improved to 2-0 on the season after an opening win against Rutgers-Camden on Saturday morning, when the Blue and Grey doubles teams went unbeaten.

Moravian duplicated that feat as the first doubles team of seniors Melissa Follett and Erica Venuti started the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory.

Freshman Brittney Eady and senior Katie Zien followed that with an 8-4 win at second doubles, while sophomore Brittany Hodge and freshman Selena Ocasio finished off Misericordia 8-3 at third doubles.

Zien continued her dominant day at the second singles position with an 8-1 win. Eady's 8-4 triumph at third singles improved the rookie's record to 2-0. Venuti (8-4), Hodge (8-4) and sophomore Courtnie Lambert (8-6) all pitched in wins to the Moravian team effort.

After playing over eight hours on the Hoffman Courts on Saturday, the Greyhounds get a much-deserved rest before their next match. Moravian returns to action on Thursday, September 12 when they travel to Albright College for a 4 p.m. contest.
