Greyhounds Improve to 5-0 with Win Over Bryn Mawr

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team remained undefeated this fall as the squad improved to 5-0 with an 8-1 non-conference victory at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles action. Seniors Melissa Follett and Erica Venuti posted an 8-5 win at first doubles while senior Katie Zien  and freshman Brittney Eady had an 8-2 victory at second doubles. Freshmen Julia Atiyeh and Selina Ocasio combined for an 8-3triumph at third doubles.

"It was a total team win with everyone winning a point for Moravian," Eady said.

In singles action, Moravian captured five matches in straight sets with Follett winning at first singles, Eady at second singles, Zien in third singles, Ocasio at fourth singles and sophomore Courtnie Lambert at sixth singles. Venuti dropped a three set match at fourth singles for the Greyhounds.

"This was a good win that will prepare us for a pair of tough matches next week," said Head Coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, October 1 when the squad hosts NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at Hoffman Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m.
