Women's Tennis Remains Undefeated in Landmark Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women's tennis squad remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action, improving to 4-0 in the Landmark with a hard-fought 5-4 victory at The Catholic University of America Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals held a 2-1 lead after the doubles action with the Greyhounds earning a point at first doubles from the tandem of seniors Melissa Follett and Erica Venuti by an 8-4 score.

The Hounds, now 13-2 overall, bounced back in singles with the top three earning victories to put the team in front 4-2 before the final three matches began. Follett had a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles while freshman Brittney Eady captured a 7-5, 6-1 victory at second singles. Senior Katie Zien also won in straight sets at third singles with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph. Freshman Selina Ocasio secured the victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win at fifth singles. Venuti had forced a third set in her fourth singles match before falling.

Moravian is scheduled to hit the court again on Tuesday, April 8 when the Hounds travel to The University of Scranton for a Landmark Conference match starting at 4:00 p.m.
