Greyhounds Roll Past ESU to Improve to 6-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team continued its domination this fall with its fourth 8-1 victory of the season, knocking off NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania Tuesday at Hoffman Courts.

The Greyhounds had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action. Seniors Erica Venuti and Melissa Follett rallied from a 4-0 deficit to post an 8-4 win at first doubles while senior Katie Zien and freshman Brittney Eady earned an 8-1 victory at second doubles.

"Everyone stayed mentally tough even they were behind in the score and managed to fight back," Venuti said.

Moravian won all six singles matches in straight sets with Follett capturing first singles, Eady winning at second singles, Zien triumphant at third singles, Venuti victorious at fourth singles, freshman Selina Ocasio winning at fifth singles and sophomore Courtnie Lambert capturing the sixth singles match to round out the lineup.

The Greyhounds will close out the fall portion of their 2013-14 season on Thursday, October 3 when the squad heads to Allentown to take on rival Muhlenberg College in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. Moravian and Muhlenberg head into the match tied at 1-1 in the Annual Matte Award standings for this academic year.

"It was another strong win and a good warm-up for Muhlenberg," stated Zien.
