Women Tie for 13th at ECAC DIII Indoor T&F Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team finished in a tie for 13th of 50 teams scoring a point at the 2013 ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rutgers-Newark at the New York City Armory.

The Greyhounds scored 20 points in the meet to finish in a three-way tie with Worcester State College and the University of Rochester. Ithaca College captured the team title with 76 points while New York University was second with 50 points and Rowan University took third with 48 points.

Moravian scored four of its 20 points on the second day of competition Saturday as senior Micah Leonard took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters (17 feet, 5 1/2 inches). Leonard had earned Moravian six points on Friday when she placed third in the triple jump.

Freshman Corinne Glass competed in three events Saturday for the Greyhounds. She was ninth in the 200-meter dash in 25.97 seconds, the fifth fastest time in school history, and Glass was 14th in the 400-meter dash in 59.74 seconds, the ninth best time in the Moravian record books. Glass also teamed with sophomores Morgan Redmond, Brielle Sutter and Brianna Wright to run a time of 4:03.54 in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet placed 11th with the second fastest time in school history.

The Greyhounds will return to action next weekend, Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th with competitors heading to the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by North Central (Ill.) College. The full field of qualifiers will be announced Monday.
