Women Capture 6th Straight Landmark Title; Leonard & Sutter Win Major Awards

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team won its sixth straight Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship, capturing the 2013 meet hosted by Goucher College by 114 points over runner-up Susquehanna University.

The Greyhounds scored 264 points while the Crusaders had 150 points and The Catholic University of America was third with 133 points. Senior Micah Leonard was named the Field Athlete of the Year while sophomore Brielle Sutter earned Track Athlete of the Year accolades.

Moravian captured four individual titles and one relay championship on the second day of the meet Sunday.

Leonard won the triple jump for the fourth straight year with an ECAC qualifying, Moravian and Landmark Conference record distance of 12.14 meters (39 feet, ten inches), a distance that moves her to third on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Sophomore Hailey Kester was ninth in the event at 9.96 meters (32 feet, 8 ¼ inches).

Sutter won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 57.98 seconds while freshman Corinne Glass was fourth with an ECAC qualifying mark of 59.59 seconds. Junior Allison Vanek was seventh in the race in 1:01.59.

Glass was the winner in the 100-meter dash in 13.05 seconds while Sutter was the runner-up in 13.14 seconds. Sophomore Morgan Redmond was fourth in 13.19 seconds while freshman Christelle Reglas was fifth in 13.23 seconds.

Glass also won the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.01 seconds with Sutter as the runner-up again in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.21 seconds. Reglas was fourth in the race in 26.92 seconds while Redmond placed seventh in 28.34 seconds.

Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of Glass, Sutter, Redmond and Reglas finished first in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.16 seconds. The Greyhounds 4x400-meter team of Sutter, Glass, Redmond and Vanek was second with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:06.94.

Redmond was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.93 seconds while freshman Meghan Newman was fifth in 17.47 seconds and senior Jacqueline Olmstead was sixth in 17.49 seconds. Redmond also placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.00 while Olmstead was seventh in 1:12.98.

Sophomore Devon Bedell was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:45.39 while senior Emma Pacheco took third in 12:58.28 and sophomore Alyssa Tallon finished fifth at 13:14.86. Sophomore Emily Lambright was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:24.05 while junior Jennifer Smilgis was seventh in 2:28.32.

Sophomore Claire DelCasale was fifth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:16.44 while sophomore Jessie Goldberg finished eighth at 19:41.49.

Leonard was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.52 meters (four feet, 11 ¾ inches).

Sophomore Jenny Kratch was third in the discus with a toss of 33.37 meters (109 feet, six inches while freshman Tyler Clore  placed sixth at 28.94 meters (94 feet, 11 inches). Kratch was also fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.66 meters (34 feet, 11 ¾ inches) while sophomore Allissa Hoffman was eighth at 10.05 meters (32 feet, 11 ¾ inches).

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Monday, May 13th at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet beginning at 4:00 p.m.
