Leonard, Sutter & Vanek Win Events at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team competed at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational Saturday and had three individual wnners and seven ECAC Division III qualifying marks.

Between the Greyhounds and the host Mules, the meet was also scored as a dual meet for the annual Matte Award with the Muhlenberg women winning 99-82.

Senior Micah Leonard won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.64 meters (38 feet, 2 ¼ inches), a distance that is fourth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The distance is also the seventh best leap in school history. Leonard was also fourth in the long jump at 5.02 meters (16 feet, 5 ½ inches).

Sophomore Brielle Sutter won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 58.63 seconds, which is 21st on the TFRRS list and the ninth best time in school history, while freshman Corinne Glass was third in an ECAC qualifying mark of 58.83 seconds, which is 24th on the TFRRS list.

Junior Allison Vanek tied for first in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 3.40 meters (11 feet, 1 ¾ inches). Sophomore Dana Fineman was tied for third at 3.10 meters (ten feet, two inches) while junior Amanda Smilgis was tied for fifth in the pole vault at 2.95 meters (nine feet, eight inches).

Sophomore Giana Vecchio was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.56 meters (31 feet, 4 ½ inches) while freshman Christelle Reglas was ninth in the long jump at 4.63 meters (15 feet, 2 ¼ inches).

On the track, sophomore Brianna Wright was second in the 100-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 12.76 seconds while sophomore Morgan Redmond was sixth in 13.12 seconds. Redmond also seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 16.08 seconds, and she took third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.41. Wright placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.92 seconds while Reglas was tenth in 27.38 seconds.

Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of Sutter, Vanek, Redmond and Glass finished second with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:03.69, which is 25th on the TFRRS list.

Sophomore Emily Lambright placed seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:28.07 while senior Emma Pacheco was eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:25.60.

Sophomore Allissa Hoffman was sixth in the javelin with a toss of 32.33 meters (106 feet, one inch) while freshman Karlee Corvasce was eighth at 30.41 meters (99 feet, nine inches) and sophomore Jenny Kratch took tenth at 27.76 meters (91 feet, one inch). Kratch was fifth in the discus with a toss of 32.65 meters (107 feet, one inch), and she placed seventh in the hammer throw that was competed on Friday at DeSales University with a toss of 35.59 meters (116 feet, nine inches).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action when the squad hosts the Coach P Open on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th at Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field with action starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
