Leonard Earns All-America Accolades as Runner-Up in Triple Jump at NCAA DIII Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. --- Senior Micah Leonard of the Moravian College women's track & field team finished as the runner-up in the triple jump on the third and final day of 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship hosted by The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

Leonard earned All-America honors for the sixth time in her career and second this season with a school and Landmark Conference record distance of 12.47 meters (40 feet, 11 inches) on her second attempt in the finals of the triple jump. Leonard, who was competing at the national championships for the seventh time, was also second after the preliminaries with a then school record of 12.40 meters (40 feet, 8 ¼ inches) on her second jump of the competition.

Leonard, who was fifth in the triple jump at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships, registered marks of 12.32 meters, 12.40 meters, a foul, 12.06 meters, 12.47 meters and 12.22 meters on her six attempts Saturday.

Leonard earned eight points for the Greyhounds in the team standings, and Moravian finished the meet tied for 24th of 77 schools scoring a point with a total of 11 points as sophomore Hailey Kester earned three points in the pole vault on Thursday for a sixth place All-America finish.
