Leonard Earns 5th All-America Honor with 5th Place in Triple Jump at NCAA Indoor Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --- Senior Micah Leonard of the Moravian College women's indoor track & field team earned All-America honors for the fifth time in her career as she placed fifth in the triple jump on the second day of competition at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by North Central (Ill.) College.

Leonard had a long distance of 11.86 meters (38 feet, 11 inches) on her fifth attempt of the meet. Leonard was also fifth after the preliminaries at 11.79 meters on her first jump of the day, which was actually tied for fourth but fifth based on the competitors' second-best distance, and just two centimeters from third place. Leonard's marks in the meet were 11.79m, 11.62m, 11.74m, 11.60m and 11.86 meters before going over the line for a foul on her sixth and final attempt.

Leonard was competing at the NCAA Division III National Championships for the sixth time in her career with her third trip to the indoor meet. Leonard is now a two-time All-American indoors in the triple jump in 2013 and 2011. She is also a two-time All-American indoors in the long jump in 2011 and 2010, and Leonard earned All-America honors outdoors in the triple jump in 2012.

Leonard scored four points for her fifth place finish, and Moravian had a total of six points in the team competition as junior Allison Vanek earned two points on Friday with a seventh place finish in the pole vault. The Greyhounds will open their outdoor season when the team travels to the Washington & Lee (Va.) University Carnival on Friday and Saturday, March 22nd and 23rd.
