Leonard, Kester Lead Moravian Women During 1st Day of ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team received top three finishes from senior Micah Leonard and sophomore Hailey Kester to move into eight place of 37 teams scoring points on the opening day of the 2013 ECAC Division III Championships being hosted by Springfield College Thursday.

The Greyhounds scored 14 points in the first eight events while Massachusetts Institute of Technology is first with 30 points. St. Lawrence University is second with 23 points while Tufts University is third with 21 points.

Leonard was the runner-up in the triple jump with a distance of 12.19 meters (40 feet), the second longest distance in school history, to score eight points. Kester finished third in the pole vault, clearing 3.69 meters (12 feet, 1 3/4 inches) to score Moravian's other six points.

Sophomore Morgan Redmond ran a career best time of 15.19 seconds in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries to tie for 17th while freshman Corinne Glass was 33rd in the 100-meter dash in 12.72 seconds. Sophomore Claire DelCasale finished 21st in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:38.33.

Moravian will return to action on the second day of the ECAC Division III Championships on Friday, May 17th beginning at 10:00 a.m.
