Brendan Close named Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week

MADISON, N.J. --- Senior pitcher Brendan Close of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Close improved to 2-0 on the season and won his 12th straight decision with a complete-game, 5-2 victory over #10 Heidelberg (Ohio) University in Moravian's opening game at the Snowbird Classic in Punta Gorda, Florida Sunday afternoon.  Close went the distance, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out six batters.

In his career, Close is now 24-3 and hasn't lost a decision since the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament, and has a 2.36 career ERA in 217 1/3 innings to go with 244 strikeouts and just 28 walks.

Moravian, which is 3-2 on the year, is scheduled to play a doubleheader with John Carroll (Ohio) University on Monday at the Snowbird Classic.
