Five Baseball Players are Ranked in First NCAA DIII Statistics

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Five Moravian College baseball players are ranked in the first NCAA Division III baseball statistics released Tuesday.

Senior third baseman Gregg Steinman is ranked 50th with a .458 batting average, and he's tied for 18th with five sacrifice bunts this season. Steinman has 14 RBIs, ten runs scored, two doubles and a home run.

Senior designated hitter Austin Rock is tied for 14th in the country with nine doubles while ranking 30th with 0.6 doubles per game. Rock is hitting .362 with a team-high 18 RBIs.

Senior pitcher Brendan Close ranks third in Division III with 0.41 walks allowed per nine innings. He is tied for 21st with two complete games, tied for 42nd with three victories and tied for 80th in the country with a 1.64 ERA.

Sophomore pitcher Thomas Mariano is tied for 21st with two complete games, he's tied for 42nd with three wins and tied for 54th with a 1.30 ERA.

Senior shortstop Dave Zubia has been hit by a pitch six times this season, which ranks him tied for 47th. Zubia has a team-best 18 runs scored.

As a team, the Greyhounds are ranked in five different statistical categories. They rank 21st in walks allowed per nine innings (2.48), they're tied for 30th in doubles (36), tied for 43rd in hits (184), 45th in batting average (.336) and tied for 46th with 2.25 doubles per game.

Moravian returns to the field on Saturday, March 24th as they travel to Landmark Conference foe Juniata College. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
