Senior Gregg Steinman is Named NCBWA Division III Hitter of the Week

NEWBERG, OR – Senior third baseman Gregg Steinman of the Moravian College baseball team was named the NCAA Division III Hitter of the Week for the week of March 12-18 as voted on by a panel of D-III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

This is the third honor for Steinman this week as he was named the ECAC Division III South Hitter of the Week, and the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week this week.

Steinman helped the Greyhounds to a 4-1 record last week, including a three-game sweep of conference rival Catholic. He batted .765 (13-for-17) for the week with a pair of doubles, five runs scored and eight RBIs. He batted 1.000 twice as he went 3-for-3 against Muhlenberg and 4-for-4 versus Catholic on Saturday. Overall, Steinman went 9-for-11 with five RBIs and five runs scored in the series versus Catholic.

Steinman is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and a seven-game RBI streak, and is ten hits shy of becoming the 18th player in school history with 100 career hits.

On the season, Steinman is batting a team-high .442 (23-for-52) to go with his 14 RBIs, nine runs scored, two doubles and a home run.

Moravian (10-7, 3-0 Landmark) returns to action on Saturday, March 24th as they travel to Landmark Conference foe Juniata College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
