Senior Dave Zubia Named Landmark Player of the Week

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Dave Zubia of the Moravian College baseball team was named the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 30th. This is the second time this season Zubia earned this honor (4/16).

Zubia helped the Greyhounds secure the top seed and hosting rights for the Landmark Conference Tournament with a strong week at the plate. The senior reached base ten times over three games, knocking out five hits and walking five times. He was 5-for-6 with a home run and three run scored while driving in two runs and stealing two bases. Zubia produced a batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage line of .833/.909/1.333 over three games.

On the season, Zubia is hitting .452 (61-for-135) and is one hit shy of breaking the record for hits in a single season. He has a team-best 52 runs scored, 21 walks and 18 stolen bases to go with his 35 RBIs, 13 doubles, three triples and three home runs.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, May 5 as the top seed and host of the 2012 Landmark Conference Tournament at Gillespie Field. The Greyhounds will take on Drew, which earned the fourth seed.
