Hounds Fall to Neumann in Non-Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad fell to visiting Neumann University, 9-2, in non-conference action at Gillespie Field Tuesday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The Knights opened the scoring with a run in the top of the third inning on their first of the contest
  • The Greyhounds answered with a run in the bottom of the third to knot the score at 1-1. Senior center fielder Matt Madigan had a bunt single to begin the frame, and he raced home from second on an RBI single through the right side from junior first baseman Cole Cherkas
  • Neumann moved back in front with a run in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 edge
  • The Knights extended the advantage to 7-1 with a five-run seventh inning, and Neumann plated one run in the eighth frame to make it 8-1
  • Neumann finished of its scoring with a run in the top of the 9th
  • The Hounds added a run in the bottom of the ninth with sophomore third baseman Jaden Clements each drawing one-out walks, and Clements eventually racing home on a wild pitch
