Holmes Named to 2023 Landmark Baseball All-Conference First Team

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University baseball squad has had senior designated hitter Derek Holmes named to the 2023 Landmark Baseball All-Conference First Team.

The Greyhounds were 13-26 this season and 8-10 in the Landmark Conference regular season under the direction of first-year Head Coach Douglas Coe.

Holmes, who was named to the All-Conference First Team the last two seasons, hit .356 for the year with 52 hits, 31 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, three homers, 33 RBIs, a .451 on-base percentage and a .521 slugging percent. Holmes, who also made the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com All-Region 5 First Teams last season, finished his career with 154 hits, which is tied for 16th in program history, 84 runs, 89 RBIs, 29 doubles, four triples and eight home runs. Holmes’ career batting average of .385 is tied for first in school history, and his is second all-time with a .460 on-base percentage and a .537 slugging percentage.

“We are extremely proud of Derek representing the Greyhounds on the 2023 Landmark All Conference team,” stated Coe. “He battled through an injury in Florida and was able to be a staple in the middle of our lineup all season. Derek had a great career during his four seasons here at Moravian, and he will be finishing his collegiate career at the College of William & Mary next spring as a graduate student."
