NORTH WALES, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped a 15-11 decision to host Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action at Hostelley Field Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Blue & Grey retook the edge at 3-2 with a run in the second frame. Junior center fielder Matt Madigan singled with two outs, moved to second on a wild pitch and third on a throwing error before racing home on an infielder RBI single off the bat of senior third baseman Mason Fisher
  • Gwynedd Mercy countered with nine runs in the bottom of the second to move ahead 11-3
  • The Griffins scored again with a solo home run in the fourth inning
  • Moravian pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the fifth frame. Junior catcher Connor Wengryn ripped a two-RBI double to bring in both Croyle and Henry
  • Gwynedd Mercy got one run back in the bottom of the fifth and another one in the sixth inning to push the edge to 14-5
  • The Hounds scored three times in the top of the seventh to close within 14-8. Wengryn followed with another RBI double to score Pow while Clements raced across the plate on a wild pitch. Wengryn scored the final run of the inning on an RBI sacrifice fly by Madigan
  • The Griffins hit another home run on the bottom of the seventh to make it 15-8
