Hounds Fall In Non-Conference Action at NYU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The Moravian University men's basketball squad fell to host New York University, 103-61, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the opening basket on a lay-up from freshman forward Marquis Ratcliff. The Violets netted seven straight points before graduate student guard Danny Cooper hit a lay-up. NYU pushed the advantage out to 22 points at 34-12 with 9:15 to play in the first half
  • Junior guard C.J. Weber and Alex Dietz hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Hounds to cut the deficit to 34-18 but that would be as close as Moravian would get in the first half as the Violets heads to the locker room with a 52-25 lead
  • NYU's advantage did not dip below 25 points in the final 20 minutes of action 

Inside the Numbers

  • Ratcliff was the only Moravian player to reach double digits as he tied his career highs with 19 points and nine rebounds to go with a pair of blocked shots
  • Cooper tossed in eight points and added four boards and a pair of assists while Dietz, Weber and junior guard Mark Howell each had six points with Dietz adding two rebounds
  • Junior forward Mike DiPietro contributed five points and four rebounds while sophomore guard/forward Antonio Montgomery also netted five points
  • Junior guard Filippo Baldo had three points in his Moravian debut while freshman forward Uma Kalu added two pints and five rebounds in his first collegiate action
  • Freshman forward Liam Cummiskey had one point in his collegiate debut while sophomore guard/forward Michael Leonardo dished out three assists and freshman guard Porter Kelly grabbed two rebounds
  • Moravian was 19-for-62 from the floor, 10-of-35 beyond the three-point line and 13-for-16 at the foul line in the contest
