Moravian Comes from Behind at Susquehanna for Landmark Conference Victory

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse squad trailed host Susquehanna University by two goals at halftime before rallying to post a 14-12 victory over the River Hawks in Landmark Conference action Saturday. 

How It Happened

  • Senior midfielder Meaghan McMullan scored 2:48 into action, and she added another goal five minutes later as the Greyhounds built an early 4-0 lead. The River Hawks answered with five of the next six goals to knot the contest at 5-5 before freshman attack Lexi Robinson found the cage to put Moravian back up 6-5 with 5:50 until halftime. Susquehanna netted the final three goals of the half to head to the intermission with an 8-6 lead
  • Sophomore attack Megan Donnelly scored her first goal of the season just under two minutes into the second half to pull the Blue and Grey within a goal. The Rivers Hawks restored their two-goal lead before the Greyhounds ran of four straight tallies to take the lead for good. McMullan scored to start the run before two straight goals from junior midfielder Lindsey Strohl had Moravian up 10-9. Donnelly scored again before the teams traded goals. Donnelly pushed the Hounds' advantage to 14-11 with 9:32 remaining, and Susquehanna was only able to score once more

Inside the Numbers

  • Strohl led the Greyhounds with five goals while McMullan had four goals and a team-high three assists and Donnelly netted a hat trick
  • Senior attack Danielle Sullivan added a goal and a pair of assists while Robinson had one goal and sophomore attack Devin King contributed an assist
  • McMullan also paced the Blue and Grey with seven draw controls, six ground balls and three caused turnovers while Strohl added six draw controls. Donnelly and junior midfielder Jamie Bader both had three ground balls
  • Sophomore goalie Brelyn Friedman registered a career-high 15 saves to go with a pair of ground balls in the victory
