ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and went on to post a 20-14 victory at Elizabethtown College Wednesday afternoon in Landmark Conference action.
How It Happened
- Senior midfielder Meaghan McMullan gave the Greyhounds an early 1-0 lead, and she pushed the edge to 3-0 at the 23:47 mark. The Blue Jays scored three of the next four goals before senior attack Danielle Sullivan found the net for Moravian. It was still a one-goal match with just under 12 minutes until the intermission when the Blue and Grey scored three times with sophomore attack Megan Donnelly extending the lead to 9-5 just over a minute later. McMullan scored with just over two minutes left in the first half to season the Hounds to the break with a 10-7 lead
- Freshman attack Lexi Robinson scored 20 seconds into the second half to restore Moravian's four-goal lead. The Blue Jays closed within two goals at 12-10 with 19:38 to play. The teams would trade goals until the final five minutes when the Greyhounds scored three times to seal their fourth win of the year
Inside the Numbers
- McMullan led the Greyhounds eight goals as she moved into third in school history with 169 career goals, and she also had eight draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers
- Junior midfielder Lindsey Strohl added four goals, a career high 14 draw controls and four ground balls while Donnelly had a pair of goals and two draw controls
- Sophomore midfielder Emily Hoskin and sophomore attack Devin King each had one goal and two assists while Sullivan, Robinson, junior attack Eliza Fantazzi and sophomore attack Kendall Lomascola each scored once
- For the second time this season, Moravian had 26 draw controls in a match, this time tying the school record set against Juniata College on March 27
- Sophomore goalie Brelyn Friedman made seven saves for the Hounds
