Third Seeded Moravian Falls to Second Seed in Landmark Conference Semifinals

SCRANTON Pa. --- The third seeded Moravian College women's lacrosse team fell to second seed and host The University of Scranton, 19-7, in a Landmark Conference Semifinal Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 just 39 seconds into action as senior attack Danielle Sullivan took a pass from junior midfielder Lindsey Strohl and found the cage. The Royals then scored five straight goals before junior attack Eliza Fantazzi netted a goal on an eight-meter attempt for the Hounds. Moravian eventually pulled within two goals at 7-5 when senior midfielder Meaghan McMullan tallied a goal with 1:19 left before the intermission. Scranton answered with two more goals before the end of the half to lead 9-5 at the break
  • The Royals scored the opening goal of the second half before Sullivan netted another goal. Scranton ended up scoring nine of the final ten goals of the match with freshman attack Lexi Robinson scoring the Blue and Grey's final goal 

Inside the Numbers

  • McMullan led Moravian with two goals and an assist to go along with eight draw controls while Sullivan netted two goals. Strohl added one goal, one assist and two draw controls while Fantazzi and Robinson each scored once for the Hounds
  • Senior defender Olivia Clearie had four draw controls for the Hounds
  • Sophomore goalie Rylee Soltis made 11 saves in 46 minutes while sophomore goalie Brelyn Friedman had two saves in 14 minutes of play
