Clearie Reaches Ground Ball Milestone as Greyhounds Race Past Juniata in Regular Season Finale

BETHLEHEM Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team posted an 18-4 victory over visiting Juniata College in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Tuesday afternoon to close out the 2021 regular season.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored first when junior midfielder Lindsey Strohl found the cage off of a pass from sophomore attack Megan Donnelly two and a half minutes into action. The Eagles netted their first goal a minute and a half later to knot the match at 1-1. Moravian followed with eight straight goals from seven different players to jump out to a 9-1 advantage. Juniata tallied another goal before the Blue and Grey scored three more times to lead 12-2 at the intermission
  • Strohl opened the scoring in the second half as well, netting her sixth goal of the afternoon a little over a minute into the half. The Greyhounds would score five more times in the half while the Eagles netted two goals

Inside the Numbers

  • Strohl led the Hounds with six goals to go with eight draw controls while senior midfielder Meaghan McMullan had three goals, three assists, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers
  • Sophomore attack Devin King contributed two goals and two assists while senior attack Danielle Sullivan, junior attack Eliza Fantazzi and sophomore midfielder Emily Hoskin all had two goals with Hoskin scooping up four ground balls
  • Donnelly finished with one goal, one assist and three ground balls while senior attack Breanna Federico had an assist
  • Moravian had 20 of the 24 draw controls in the match with senior Olivia Clearie gathering nine to go with a pair of ground balls as she became the 13th player in school history to reach 100 career ground balls while junior defender Meghan Moore contributed four ground balls and a team-high three caused turnovers
  • The Hounds used three goalies with sophomore Brelyn Friedman making four saves in 30 minutes of action, sophomore Rylee Soltis stopping two shots in 28 minutes and senior Courtney Heist finishing the contest
