Antonis Named Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior Michael Antonis of the Moravian College men's tennis squad has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Antonis helped the Greyhounds to their second straight win to open the 2015-16 season with 7-2 victory over Arcadia University on Saturday. Antonis won his third singles match in straight sets, and he also combined with sophomore David Wilson for a victory at second doubles. On Sunday, Antonis picked up a pair of singles wins in the round-robin individual tournament at the Muhlenberg College Fall Classic to improve to 4-0 on the year.

"Mike is a guy who lives to play tennis, and he is also a great competitor," commented first-year Director of Tennis Alan Heverly. "Both of those qualities were evident in the matches this past weekend. He was having fun on the court and was able to alter his style of played when he needed to, and that is why he finished the weekend with three wins in singles."

Moravian is scheduled to complete its fall season on Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4 at the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Tournament being hosted by the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
