Hounds Tied with Stevenson in ECAC DIII Men's Tennis Semifinal When Match Suspended by Rain

GLENSIDE, Pa. --- Top seed Moravian College and fourth seed Stevenson University had their 2016 ECAC Division III Men's Tennis Outdoor Championship Semifinal match suspended with the score tied at 2-2 Saturday due to rain moving into the area.

The match will be continued at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 15. The winner will advance to the championship match at 3:00 p.m. against second seed the United States Merchant Marine Academy while the loser will face host and third seed Arcadia University in the third-place match at 11:00 a.m. USMMA defeated Arcadia, 5-4, in Saturday's other semifinal contest that was completed before the rain began.

In action between the Greyhounds and Mustangs on Saturday, Stevenson led 2-1 after doubles action with Moravian's third doubles tandem of freshmen Peter Demyan and Isaac Schefer earning an 8-1 victory. Seniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie nearly gave the Blue and Grey a lead in doubles before falling in a tiebreaker 9-8 (8-6) at first doubles.

In the only singles match to finish on Saturday, Demyan earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles to tie the contest at 2-2. Moravian was leading four of the remaining five singles contest that were suspended by the rain.
