Tuorto & Wylie Selected to Landmark All-Conference Teams

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College seniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie have been named to the 2016 Men's Tennis Landmark All-Conference Teams.

The duo earned All-Conference First Team honors in Doubles for the second consecutive season. Wylie was also named to the All-Conference First Team in Singles while Tuorto made the All-Conference Second Team in Singles.

The pair has helped Moravian to a 12-6 overall record this season, and the Greyhounds earned the top seed in the 2016 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championship for a second consecutive season. The Hounds, who won the inaugural ECAC title last spring, will play fourth seed Stevenson University on Saturday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m. at host Arcadia University.

Tuorto and Wylie are 17-3 in doubles action this season, tying the single season school record for wins they set during 2014-15, and they have combined for a school record 55 doubles victories.

"These two players gelled from the start," commented first-year Head Coach Alan Heverly. "Their playing styles and hard work made them the winningest doubles team ever at Moravian. Their exceptionally good sportsmanship made me proud to call myself their coach."

Wylie has recorded 37 singles wins in his career with a 13-6 mark this season that includes a 13-4 slate at second singles. In addition to being on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in Doubles in 2015 and the Second Team in Doubles in 2013 and 2014, Wylie was selected to the Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship last year.

"John was the guy we counted on in many of our matches," Heverly said. "He led by example with his solid play throughout the season kept us competitive in some of our most difficult matches. His no nonsense style of play made him easy to coach."

Tuorto is 43-43 in singles action with a 12-7 mark this season including 11-6 at first singles. In his career, Tuorto was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team in Singles and Doubles in 2015 while earning spots on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in Doubles in 2013 and 2014. He is also a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll while serving as a team captain for the last three years.

"Playing at number one, Matt had the difficult task of playing many players who were Division I level opponents," stated Heverly. "Whether he won or lost, Matt played well and tested the mettle of all his opponents throughout the entire season."
