Hounds Open Spring Season with 8-1 Win at Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2015-16 season Tuesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory in non-conference action versus Summit University at Birchwood Racquet Club.

The Hounds, who are undefeated on the year at 3-0, jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches. Seniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie combined for an 8-3 victory at first doubles while senior C.J. Widdifield and junior Giovanni Lombardi earned an 8-4 win at second doubles. Sophomore David Wilson and freshman Peter Demyan posted an 8-0 sweep at third doubles for Moravian.

The Greyhounds then won five of the six singles match in the contest. Tuorto won in straight sets at first singles while Wylie won in two sets at second singles. Lombardi won in two sets at third singles while Wilson needed three sets for his win at fifth singles. Demyan rounded out the match with a straight sets win at sixth singles.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, March 6 in a non-conference match versus Roger Williams (R.I.) University in Orlando, Florida, the first of four matches for the Greyhounds on their Spring Break trip.
