Moravian Wins Fourth Straight Match with Victory at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match with an 8-1 victory at Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, now 10-4 overall and 3-2 in Landmark Conference play, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles action. Seniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie won their 51st career doubles match with an 8-3 win at first doubles while senior C.J. Widdifield and junior Giovanni Lombardi had an 8-6 triumph at second doubles. Freshmen Peter Demyan and Isaac Schefer posted an 8-5 victory at third doubles.

Moravian went on to win five of the six singles matches with all five victories coming in straight sets. Tuorto won at first singles and he was followed by Wylie at second singles, Widdifield at fourth singles, Schefter at fifth singles and Demyan at sixth singles. Lombardi forced a third set in his third singles match before falling.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, April 17 in another Landmark Conference match at The University of Scranton beginning at 1:00 p.m.
