Finnegan's Top-5 Finish Leads Moravian at Lehigh Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's indoor track & field squad started its 2016-17 campaign in the non-scoring Lehigh University Opener at Rauch Fieldhouse Friday evening.

Senior Jackie Finnegan paced the Greyhounds with a fifth place in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.57 meters (44-6.25). Junior Maggie Heft was seventh in the weight throw at 12.89 meters (42-3.5) while freshman Vanessa Blose was 10th at 12.18 meters (39-11.5).

Junior Melissa Cheong also had a fifth place finish in the high jump with an ECAC qualifying height of 1.65 meters (5-5), the second best jump in school history. Junior Beth Ann Davies was sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.05 meters (10-0) while senior Kiara Bright was ninth in the triple jump at a distance of 10.53 meters (34-6.75).

On the track, sophomore Anna Osman finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.39 while freshman Lily Cooper was 10th in 1:04.34. Cooper was also part of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad with junior Holly Wagner, freshman Shania Alotta and sophomore Lian Grow that finished eighth in 4:34.97.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Friday and Saturday, December 9-10 when the Greyhounds return to Rauch Fieldhouse for the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals.
