Cooper Selected as ECAC Division III Metro Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College freshman sprinter Lily Cooper has been selected as the ECAC Division III Metro Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week for her performance last week.

Cooper was sixth in the 100-meter dash finals at the non-scoring Coach P Invitational hosted by Moravian College last Saturday in 12.75 seconds after a preliminary time of 12.94 seconds to place eighth and reach the finals. Cooper also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.15 seconds, and both of her times are PRs for the season.

"Lily has ascended since late in the indoor season and clearly she's continuing with that into the outdoors," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Both her 100m and 200m times currently lead our conference, which is remarkable for a freshman especially in a conference as competitive as ours is. We knew she had a lot of potential coming out of high school; we just needed some favorable outdoor weather for her to showcase what she could do."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15 when the squad hosts the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.
