Moravian Names Cassady & Merone as 2021-22 Women's Tennis Captains

Juniors Julianne Cassady and Cristina Merone have been named the captains for the 2021-22 women's tennis season.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad has named juniors Julianne Cassady and Cristina Merone as its captains for the 2021-22 season.

            "I am extremely excited to announce our captains for the 2021-22 season," stated first-year Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas, who is in her eighth year working with the Greyhounds. "Cristina and Julianne will step up into this leadership role for the women's team. They each add something a little different to the team, and I'm confident they will serve our program well."

            Cassady is 11-4 in singles action and 10-4 in doubles play in her career. She was named to the 2021 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, and Cassady was also selected as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete in 2021.

            Merone has a 10-3 doubles mark for the Greyhounds, and she is also 4-0 in singles action. Merone is a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and also made the 2021 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

            Moravian is slated to begin the fall portion of the 2021-22 season on Saturday, September 18 with a non-conference match at Rutgers-Camden beginning at 12:00 p.m.
