WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad earned its first Landmark Conference win of the 2022 season with an 8-1 victory at The Catholic University of America Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Hounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles action. The tandem of juniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone finished first with an 8-1 victory at second doubles while duo of sophomore Mara Stapleton and freshman Rose Lombardo earned an 8-2 triumph at third doubles. Senior Morgan Colver and junior Julianne Cassady completed the sweep with an 8-6 win at first doubles
- Colver was the first off of the courts in singles action with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at second doubles before the Cardinals picked up their lone win of the day. Figiel earned the winning team point with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at third singles while Lombardo posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Stapleton registered a 6-3, 6-0 win at sixth singles, and Merone garnered the final point with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at fourth singles
