Hounds Knock Off Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad won its second Landmark Conference match of the 2022 season, knocking off visiting Elizabethtown College, 6-3, at Hoffman Courts Wednesday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds led 2-1 after the doubles action. The tandem of juniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone opened the contest with an 8-2 victory at second doubles before the Blue Jays knotted the score with a triumph at first doubles. Sophomore Mara Stapleton and freshman Rose Lombardo captured an 8-6 win at third doubles to send the Blue and Grey to singles action with the lead
  • Figiel quickly made it 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at third singles while Stapleton posted a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at sixth singles as Moravian moved ahead 4-1. Elizabethtown captured a win at first singles before Lombardo earned the winning point with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at fifth singles. Merone tacked on a 6-3, 7-5 win at fourth singles while the Blue Jays took the final point of the match with a three-set contest at second singles
