Hounds Drop 2021-22 Season Opener to Dickinson in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad dropped its 2021-22 season opener to visiting Dickinson College, 66-36, in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the first points of the season right off of the opening tip on a lay-up from sophomore forward Sam Osorio. Osorio scored again to make it a 5-4 lead for the Red Devils before Dickinson ran off eight straight points to take a 13-4 advantage. The Red Devils would lead 16-7 after the first quarter
  • The Red Devils extended their edge to 25-7 with a 9-0 run to start the second quarter. Moravian closed the gap to 25-13 on back-to-back three-pointers from junior guard Morgan Amy and Madison Amy. However, Dickinson headed to the locker room with a 34-17 advantage
  • Dickinson stretched its lead to 49-22 after 45 minutes of action on the way to the victory

Inside the Numbers

  • Senior forward Kayla Yoegel led the Greyhounds with eight points to go along with four rebounds and a pair of assists
  • Junior guard Jackie Kelly had seven points while sophomore forward Gracie Hezel netted a career-best six points to go with three boards
  • Osorio contributed six rebounds and four points while Madison Amy, Morgan Amy and Guarente each scored three points with Guarente adding five rebounds. Sophomore guard Reganne Flannery had two points and two boards while junior forward Emily Markowski had four rebounds and junior guard Meghan Ansel added a pair of rebounds
  • Moravian shot just 21.2 percent (11-for-52) from the floor
