Greyhounds Fall to Host Saints in Emmanuel Tip-Off Championship Game

BOSTON, Mass. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad fell to host Emmanuel (Mass.) College, 69-50, in the championship game of the Emmanuel Tip-Off Tournament Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Saints scored the opening points of the game before senior forward Kayla Yoegel hit a lay-up to knot the score. Emmanuel moved out to a 9-4 edge; however, Yoegel hit a pair of baskets to pull the Hounds within a point at 9-8 with 5:22 left in the first quarter. The Saints finished the quarter with a 12-2 run to extend their advantage to 21-10 after ten minutes of action
  • Emmanuel scored the first seven points of the second quarter to push the lead to 28-10 before a jumper by Yoegel. Junior forward Emily Markowski converted on a three-point play to cut the deficit to 28-17 with 4:52 until the intermission; however, the Saints would end up heading to the locker room with a 39-23 advantage
  • The Saints netted the first nine points of the second half and would hold a 56-38 lead after 30 minutes of action, and Emmanuel kept its edge above 19 points throughout the fourth quarter
  • Yoegel and junior guard Morgan Amy were selected to the All-Tournament Team after the game 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian was led in scoring by Yoegel, who netted a game-high 14 points to go with five rebounds
  • Junior guard Madison Amy and Jackie Kelly both had six points with Amy dishing out three assists and Kelly grabbing two boards
  • Markowski finished with five points and five rebounds while sophomore guard Reganne Flannery had five points and two rebounds
  • Morgan Amy dished out five assists in the contest and sophomore forward Sam Osorio grabbed three rebounds while junior guard Meghan Ansel had three points
  • Sophomore forward Gracie Hezel contributed three rebounds and two points in her first career start while sophomore guard Rileigh Serroni, sophomore forward Sara Geary and freshman guard Sydney DeFranco all netted two points. DeFranco and Serroni each saw their first action of the year while Geary had three rebounds. Freshman guard Anika Buzzy had two assists and one point in her first action of the season
