Greyhounds Have Three Players in Double Figures in Landmark Conference Win at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad had three players score in double figures as the Greyhounds won their second straight Landmark Conference game, defeating host Goucher College, 66-56, Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the game's opening points on a three-pointer from junior guard Madison Amy, but the Gophers answered with six straight points for a 6-3 edge. Moravian moved back ahead at 8-6 after back-to-back jumpers from senior forward Kayla Yoegel. Goucher retook a 9-8 edge before Amy put the Hounds in the lead for good with a lay-up at the 2:57 mark for an 11-9 advantage. Yoegel added a three-pointer as the Blue and Grey led 14-9 after 10 minutes of action
  • The Gophers scored first in the second quarter, and the teams traded points until junior forward Emily Markowski hit a lay-up to extend Moravian's edge to 25-17 with just under three minutes to play in the second quarter. Amy would connect on a pair of free throws in the final 20 seconds of the half as the Greyhounds headed to the locker room with a 32-22 advantage
  • Sophomore forward Sam Osorio hit two free throws just five seconds into the second half, and Yoegel added a lay-up off of a missed shot as the Blue and Grey stretched the lead to 14 points. Moravian continued to build on a lead with a three-pointer from Amy making it a 23-point advantage, 56-33, after three quarters
  • In the fourth quarter, the Hounds edge would reach 26 points at 64-38 after a lay-up from sophomore forward Gracie Hezel with 5:41 to play. The Greyhounds were limited to just two points the rest of the way with the starters on the bench to rest with another Landmark Conference contest Monday evening

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three players in double figures led by Amy, who tossed in 15 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists. Yoegel netted 14 points to go with nine rebounds while Hezel had a career-high 12 points to go with eight rebounds, which tied her career-best.
  • Osorio finished with nine points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists while freshman forward Brielle Guarente tied her career high with eight points while grabbing three rebounds
  • Markowski contributed five points, five rebounds and two steals while junior guard Jackie Kelly had four boards and two points. Freshman guard Sydney DeFranco had one point and one rebound while junior guard Morgan Amy added three rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard Vicky Donovan also had three rebounds
  • The Greyhounds finished with a 50-42 advantage in rebounds with both teams grabbing 24 offensive boards
