EWING, N.J. --- The Moravian University women's basketball team dropped an 86-75 decision to host The College of New Jersey in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the first four points of the game on lay-ups from junior guard Madison Amy and senior forward Kayla Yoegel in the first minute of action. The Lions cut the Moravian edge down to a point at 10-9 with four and a half minutes to play in the opening quarter but a jumper from Yoegel in the last minute of the period had the Blue and Grey leading 20-12 after ten minutes of action
  • Sophomore forward Gracie Hezel connected on a free throw early in the second quarter to give Moravian its largest lead of the contest at nine points, 21-12. However, the Greyhounds netted just four points in the rest of the quarter and would head to the locker room trailing 30-25
  • Moravian saw Hezel open the scoring in the second half, and the Hounds had a 9-3 run to start the third quarter that gave the Greyhounds a 36-33 edge on a three-point play from Yoegel with 7:32 left in the period. The teams traded the lead back-and-forth with sophomore forward Sam Osorio giving the Blue and Grey a 42-40 edge at the 3:42 mark. The Lions went on another run, this one 12-0, to finish the quarter as TCNJ had a 51-42 advantage after 30 minutes of play
  • TCNJ scored first in the fourth quarter to take an 11-point lead, and the Lions led 57-46 before a three-point play from freshman guard Anika Buzzy, a three-pointer from Amy and a pair of free throws by Yoegel cut the deficit to 57-54 with 6:25 to go. TCNJ responded and had the edge back into double digits just over a minute later, and the Lions kept their lead over 10 points for the final 3:48 of action
