Emily Brandt and Mackenzie Jakobsen named as Moravian field hockey captains

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University Field Hockey Team has named senior Emily Brandt and junior Mackenzie Jakobsen as its captains for the 2021 season.

"We are excited to announce Em and Kenzie as the captains of our 2021 team," commented Head Coach Sarah Dalrymple, who had her first fall season at Moravian cancelled due to the pandemic. "Throughout the many challenges over the past year, both showed their ability to be lead on and off the field. They hold themselves and their teammates to the highest standards while continuing to grow as players and leaders."

Brandt, a defender, has played in 30 matches during her career with 16 starts. She recorded one defensive save during the 2019 season. Brandt was selected to both the ZAG/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad and the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

Jakobsen, a midfielder, saw action in 17 matches with 14 starts in her debut season two falls ago, and she added one assist during the year. Jakobsen is a two-time member of the ZAG/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad and made the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

Moravian is scheduled to begin the 2021 season on Wednesday, September 1 with a non-conference match at DeSales University beginning at 6:00 p.m. in Center Valley.
