13 Greyhounds Named to 2021 NFHCA National Academic Squad; Kehoe & Wells Earn Scholar of Distinction

GILBERT, Ariz. --- Thirteen student-athletes from the Moravian University field hockey team have been selected to the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad announced by the NFHCA while junior Emily Wells and sophomore Bekkah Kehoe were named as a NFHCA Scholars of Distinction.

Moravian was also one of 148 NCAA Division III schools to earn the honor of being named a NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award winner for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Greyhounds were joined on the list by all seven of their Landmark Conference opponents - The Catholic University of America, Drew University, Elizabethtown College, Goucher College, Juniata College, The University of Scranton and Susquehanna University. The eight Landmark Conference schools combined to have 136 student-athletes named to the National Academic Squad.

"We are extremely proud to have 13 members of our team named to the 2021 Division III National Academic Squad," stated Head Coach Sarah Dalrymple. "It is incredibly rewarding to not only watch our student-athletes succeed on the field but also excel in the classroom."

Wells and Kehoe are joined by senior Emily Brandt, juniors Maddie Call, Mackenzie Jakobsen, Elise Keeney, Maddie Wickel and Brooke Wilkinson, sophomores Sarah Bietka and Hannah Leto and freshmen Sydney Anderson, Alaina Schmid and Savannah Sutter as the Greyhounds named to the National Academic Squad, which includes more than 2,300 student-athletes from 161 schools. To be named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

Wells earned Scholar of Distinction honors for the third time in her career while Kehoe received her second honor. The Scholar of Distinction is given to student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year. This year, there are 500 student-athletes that earned Scholar of Distinction.

"Emily and Kehoe have been exceptional throughout their time at Moravian," noted Dalrymple. "They should be extremely proud of themselves for being named Scholars of Distinction. They push themselves both on the field and in the classroom every day while representing Moravian Field Hockey with pride."
