Ava Edwards and Onalee Long in action on John Makuvek Field for Landmark Conference Weekly Honors.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior forward Ava Edwards and sophomore defender Onalee Long have been named the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 2-1 victory over previously undefeated The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action Saturday in the Hounds' only match last week. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Blue and Grey, tying the program record, and Moravian's 12 victories in 2021 are two more than the previous school record. The Greyhounds have also clinched the program's first-ever Landmark Conference Tournament berth.

Edwards, who earned her second Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week honor of the season, notched her second game-winning goal of the season as she had the winning marker in the win over Scranton. Her goal was Edwards' team-leading 16th of the season, which also leads the conference.

Long had her first career goal in the contest, and she also recorded a pair of defensive saves in the match to give her a team-high four defensive saves this fall.

"We are extremely pleased with Ava and Ona's performance this week and throughout the season," noted Head Coach Sarah Dalyrmple. "They are two of our most consistent players who have shown the ability to perform under pressure time and time again."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, October 27 in a non-conference match versus Ramapo College of New Jersey beginning at 5:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field in the Greyhounds' final home contest of the regular season.
