Wells Selected to CoSIDA Women’s At-Large Academic All-District IV Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior midfielder Emily Wells of the Moravian University field hockey squad has been selected to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 55 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District Team, Wells is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Wednesday, June 15. There are a total of three student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-District Teams. The At-Large program is for sports that do not have their own Academic All-America program and includes the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo for women.

Wells set the school record with 12 assists in 2021, and she added eight goals for 28 total points while earning a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team after helping the Greyhounds to their best season in program history with a 14-3 record and the program's first-ever appearance in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Wells also netted two game-winning goals in 2021, and she has 13 goals and 13 assists for 39 points in 33 career contests.

Off the field, Wells has a 3.92 GPA as a biochemistry major on a pre-med track. She has been named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List six times during her collegiate career, and she is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll and Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Wells has also been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad three times while also earning NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors for three consecutive years.
