BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey team earned the program's first-ever win over a nationally-ranked team as the Greyhounds defeated No. 20 Susquehanna University, 3-2, in overtime in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The River Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:37 into the contest, and the 1-0 lead would hold through the first quarter of action
  • Freshman forward Sydney Anderson eventually tied the contest in the 22nd minute as she ripped a rebound off of the post into the net to knot the score at 1-1
  • Anderson gave Moravian its first lead of the contest with just 44 seconds left in the opening half when she redirected a pass from junior midfielder Maddie Call on a penalty corner into the cage as the Blue and Grey led 2-1 at the intermission
  • Neither team was able to find a goal in the third quarter with Moravian remaining on top 2-1 after 45 minutes of action
  • The Hounds nearly made it a 3-1 game in the 54th minute as sophomore forward Hanna Leto headed in on a breakaway but as she took her shot in the circle, the River Hawks goalie came out and made a diving stop to keep it a 2-1 contest
  • With 1:45 to play, Susquehanna found the tying goal to even the score at 2-2
  • As the teams dropped to 7-on-7 for the overtime, the Greyhounds would put five shots on goal with the first four being stopped before Anderson reverse chipped a shot past the River Hawks goalie on the left side. The shot trickled into the goal to complete Anderson's hat trick
