BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey team earned its fourth straight victory with a 4-0 non-conference win over visiting Delaware Valley University Tuesday evening on John Makuvek Field as the Greyhounds improved to 8-2 on the year, the program's best start since 1992.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the second minute of action as sophomore midfielder Sarah Bietka took a shot from the middle of the circle into the left side of the net
  • Moravian doubled the lead to 2-0 in the ninth minute as senior forward Ava Edwards took a shot from the right side on a long pass from sophomore midfielder Bekkah Kehoe
  • The Greyhounds extended their edge to 3-0 in the 21st minute as junior midfielder Maddie Call dribbled down the left side of the field and took a long shot just inside the circle that made it into the cage just inside the right post
  • The Blue and Grey finished off the scoring in the 55th minute when freshman forward Sydney Anderson took a feed from freshman midfielder Alaina Schmid, spun to her right and fired the ball into the cage

Inside the Numbers

  • The Greyhounds are off to their best start since 1992, when the program posted a 9-1 record to begin the year. The only other time Moravian was 8-2 in the season was back in 1985. The last time the Hounds registered eight wins in a season was in 2014
  • Moravian has a 26-1 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in penalty corners
  • Junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson did not need to make a save in her fourth shutout of the season
  • Bietka's goal was her third of the season while Edwards netted her team-leading 13th goal of the fall, the sixth best single season total in school history
  • Kehoe registered her second assist of the year while Call found the cage for the fifth time
  • Anderson reached double digits in goals with her tenth of the fall while Schmid garnered her first assist in 2021
