BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad is set to open the 2022 season on Thursday, September 1 with a non-conference match versus DeSales University beginning at 7:00 p.m., the first of eight matches that will be played under the lights in 2022.
The Greyhounds will play at home again on September 3 when Misericordia University comes to Makuvek Field. The Hounds then head out on the road for night matches at Immaculata University on September 7 and Muhlenberg College on September 9. Moravian will play a pair of afternoon contests in September with Swarthmore College coming to Bethlehem on September 17, and the Hounds opening the 2022 Landmark Conference schedule on September 24 by hosting Juniata College. The Blue and Grey also have three more night contests in the opening month of the season with trips to Alvernia University on September 14 and Stockton (N.J.) University on September 21 as well as a non-conference match with King's College on September 27 on Makuvek Field.
The month of October will see the Greyhounds play eight contests but just two of them will be at Makuvek Field when the squad hosts Drew University on October 8 and Goucher College on October 29 in Landmark Conference matches. The contest with Goucher will wrap up the regular season and will be a featured night match on Homecoming at Moravian. The Blue and Grey have Landmark Conference trips to Susquehanna University on October 1, Elizabethtown College on October 12, The University of Scranton on October 15 which is a morning start at 11:30 a.m. and The Catholic University of America on October 22 under the lights in Washington, D.C. The Hounds' last two non-conference matches of 2022 will be road trips to The College of New Jersey on October 5 and Ramapo College of New Jersey on October 26.
The Greyhounds, who were the top seed a year ago, look to qualify for the 2022 Landmark Conference Tournament that begins with the semifinals on Wednesday, November 2 and the finals slated for Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seeds' home field.
